Communities
Belonging, growth and purpose
We believe in a community life that it is not just about ourselves, but a life lived with other people in loving relationship. It’s not just about ‘me and my household’ but about extended family.
We read in the Bible of the early church that ‘all the believers were together and had everything in common,’ that they saw each other daily and ‘broke bread’ in their homes (Acts 2:44-46). We also read in 1 Corinthians 12 about the local church being like a body, in which every member is organically connected. Every member has an important part to play and everyone is honoured. People care for each other, and everyone is an active crew member.
This means that church has to be more than attending meetings but is about sharing life in various ways:
Eating together: Not just as a whole church but that we are in and out of each other’s homes, sharing meals at various times throughout the week.
Doing things together: purposeful things like trips and projects, but also having fun, playing games, sport, sharing hobbies.
Sharing our joys and pains: we value open, authentic relationships, knowing that this leads to health and growth.
Sharing our practical resources: our time, skills, money, cars, lawnmowers and much more can be used to bless one another and build a real sense of community.
Our communities are varied, meeting in different locations and at different times. We currently have the following communities:
Banbury
Our Banbury Community meets on a Wednesday evening. We eat together, pray together, look at the Bible together, have fun together and share life together. Once a month on a Sunday we host a Sunday Brunch as a way of serving the local community.
Westside (Bicester)
West Side Community meets on a Tuesday evening. We eat together regularly and share life together. We spend time praying and looking at the Bible together. Once a month on a Sunday we host a Community Sunday as a way of serving the local community.
Evergreens (Bicester)
Evergreens Community meets on a Wednesday evening. We enjoy quizzes, meals together, praying together and looking at the bible together. We run a Monday daytime group each week from 2pm to 4pm at West Bicester Community Centre as a way of serving the local community.
Agora (Bicester)
Agora Community meets on a Thursday evening. We eat together, study the Bible together, and run a fortnightly games night at the Angel in Bicester. These evenings are great opportunities to get to know local people! Why not come along and join us?
